The purpose of the LIDER Programme is to help young scientists learn how to plan research on their own, manage and lead their own research team while carrying out projects likely to be implemented on the market.
The LIDER Programme is also aimed at encouraging scientists to cooperate with businesses while performing economically valuable and implementable studies and research and enhancing mobility and exchange between research sectors, universities and research units.
Project Goal
The project will develop technology for producing laser diodes with distributed feedback (DFB) working in the visible light range. The aim of the project is to fill a niche on the market resulting from the lack of availability of DFB lasers working in this regime. The applications of single-mode spectrum lasers with narrow emission and low noise include: short-range fiber optic communication, gas detection, cooling of atoms in atomic clocks, interferometry. An innovative element of the design is the use of a structure containing a tunnel junction, which allows for strong coupling of the diffraction grating with the device. This results in very good spectral characteristics of the emitted light.
Planned effects:
The final result of the project will be the development of technology for producing laser diodes with distributed feedback operating in the visible range.
