Research capabilities and technical data
The laboratory has unique apparatus for severe plastic deformation using the method of squeezing through an equiaxial angular channel ECAP. In this method the charge is squeezed with a piston through two channels of equal cross-sections connected at an angle φ (most commonly 90o). ECAP offers the possibility to generate a large plastic deformation in the material by repeatedly repeating the squeezing process with a constant plastic deformation in each operation.
