| Announcements - Current Events |
We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 54th International School and Conference on the Physics of Semiconductors "Jaszowiec 2026", which will be held in Szczyrk, Poland, on 13–19 June 2026.
Abstract submission is now open, with a deadline of 11 March 2026. Registration will open on 12 March 2026.
For more than five decades, “Jaszowiec” has served as a key annual forum for the semiconductor physics community in Poland. Today, it ranks among the largest condensed matter physics conferences in Central Europe, welcoming around 250 participants from about 20 countries each year, nearly half of whom are students.
The “Jaszowiec” Conference offers a comprehensive scientific programme covering the major themes of solid-state physics:
I. Quantum and Low-Dimensional Systems
II. Light–Matter Interactions
III. Magnetism and Spin Phenomena
IV. Devices and Applications
V. Growth and Characterization
Recent advances in the field will be highlighted in plenary and invited lectures delivered by leading scientists. Participants will also have the opportunity to present their work in the form of oral and poster presentations. In 2026, the programme introduces a clear distinction between plenary and invited talks, reflecting the organisation of the conference:
- plenary lectures scheduled in the mornings;
- parallel afternoon sessions, each opened by an invited talk;
- evening poster sessions;
- three industrial presentations.
The conference programme will also feature a job fair aimed at inspiring students and supporting their career development in semiconductor physics after graduation.
The "Jaszowiec 2026" Conference will be held in “Klimczok” holiday resort in Szczyrk located in the Silesian Beskid Mountains. The main conference, held from Monday to Friday (15–19 June 2026), will be traditionally preceded by a weekend Tutorial Session (13–14 June 2026), primarily addressed to students and young researchers. The official language of the School and Conference is English.
The confirmed plenary speakers are listed below (tentative titles):
- Simon Böhme (ETH Zürich, Switzerland) - Excitonic coherence, giant oscillator strength and phonons in perovskite quantum dots,
- Moritz Brehm (Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria) - Advancing Silicon's potential using ultra-low temperature MBE,
