Grzegorz Muzioł is a graduate of Gdansk University of Technology, Faculty of Technical Physics and Applied Mathematics. He obtained his PhD in 2017 at the Institute of High Pressure PAS under the supervision of prof. Czesław Skierbiszewski. The thesis was entitled "Optical properties of nitride laser diodes fabricated by molecular beam epitaxy". Grzegorz Muzioł is the project leader for the NCN funded project (2013-2017) "InGaN waveguide properties and modelling of GaN substrate optical losses in laser diodes". He has co-authored more than 30 scientific publications.


The most important achievements of Grzegorz Muzioł are:

  • Obtaining blue laser diodes with a maximum optical power of 0.5 W operating in continuous mode,
  • Blue laser diodes with expected lifetime of 15,000 hours,
  • Development of a method of total elimination of parasitic mode leackage to laser diode substrate resulting in very high optical beam quality,
  • The world's first demonstration of a nitride laser diode fabricated without aluminum


Grzegorz Muzioł is an expert in GaN epitaxial growth and fabrication of nitride optoelectronic and electronic devices. His area of ​​interest covers also the characterization of devices and theoretical modeling.
